| ILOILO City – The Department of Tourism (DOT) is ready for the influx of tourists in Western Visayas particularly in Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan which is being regarded as the favorite tourist destination in the country
DOT Assistant Regional Director Helen Camarista said that they expect to exceed their 10 percent goal for this year over the 1,844,525 tourist arrivals in the region in 2006.
Camarista said tourists have already started arriving for their Christmas vacation in Boracay and in other parts of Western Visayas.
She said that with the Iloilo airport in Sta. Barbara and Cabatuan towns in Iloilo province, there would be more tourists attracted to come in because of the new facility.
